Walk Wise | Leash Walking Training in Calgary SW
Walking Your Dog in Calgary Should Feel Wise, Not Wild
Program Overview:
Walk Wise is a specialized dog training program in SW Calgary for dogs who pull on leash. If your walks feel more like navigating rugged terrain than the scenic stroll you imagined—this program is for you.
In this 8-hour course (4 × 2-hour classes), you and your dog will learn to walk together in sync, so outings feel calmer, easier, and actually enjoyable.
Your journey begins indoors (Classes 1 & 2), away from squirrels, scents, and flying leaves. This distraction-free environment is where we lay the groundwork. Your dog will learn essential “driving” skills like turning, braking, speeding up, slowing down, U-turns—and yes, that all-important emergency e-brake. We’ll also focus on synchrony and teamwork, and early strategies for handling distractions.
Then it’s time to hit the road (Classes 3 & 4). You’ll refine your skills in real-life settings, with expert support as you encounter the unexpected—whether it’s a bunny flying Mach 5 across the sidewalk or a mysterious hotdog appearing out of nowhere.
What You’ll Learn:
Dog Skills:
Turning, stopping, slowing, speeding up
U-turns and the emergency e-brake
Walking calmly past distractions
Settling and focusing in busier environments
Human Skills:
How to walk as a team (not a tug-of-war)
Timing, leash handling, and reading your dog’s signals
What to do when things go sideways
Real-world practice with expert feedback and support
Equipment considerations for your dog’s walking style
And so much more—personalized to you and your dog
Program Benefits:
Walk Wise is perfect for dog owners who want to transform chaotic leash walks into calm, connected experiences. You’ll walk away with real-life tools, practical insights, and nerdy know-how to build a new rhythm with your dog—one thoughtful step at a time.
